About this Recovery House

Pathways Sober Living - Women 711A is a women's recovery residence in Kiel, Wisconsin, in Manitowoc County. It is registered with the state for three residents, which makes it the smallest house in the Pathways portfolio and one of the smallest registered recovery residences anywhere in eastern Wisconsin.

A Three-Bed Women's Recovery Residence

Three residents is a household. There is no house culture to absorb, no hierarchy of who has been there longest, and no possibility of blending into the background. For some women that is exactly the setting that works, particularly someone who has already tried a large sober house and found the noise of it impossible, or someone whose recovery sits alongside anxiety that a twelve-bed house makes worse. It is a poor match for a resident who needs the pull of a crowd to keep a routine.

Where a Small Sober House Fits in the Pathways Network

The operator runs more than twenty homes across five Wisconsin counties, at capacities running from three residents to eight, and several of them are in Kiel. A resident who does badly at one size has somewhere to move without leaving the organization, without changing counties, and without starting a new application from the beginning. That flexibility is the practical argument for choosing a multi-house operator, and it is most useful at the extremes of the range.

Registration on the Wisconsin Recovery Residence Registry

The house was filed on the Wisconsin Department of Health Services recovery residence registry in July 2025. The registry was created by 2019 Wisconsin Act 120 and it is voluntary and self-attested: the state records what an operator files about county, city, capacity, contact and medication policy, and does not inspect, license or endorse the house. Its value to a resident is narrow and real. Capacity and the medication policy are on a public record, and a registered residence is eligible for referrals under the statute.

Sober Living for Women in Kiel and the Lakeshore

Kiel is a small Manitowoc County city on the Sheboygan River, an hour or less from Manitowoc, Sheboygan, Fond du Lac and Appleton. Women's recovery beds are scarce across all four of those counties, and the small ones are scarcer still. A three-bed house in a town of this size exists because the demand for a quiet, low-density setting does not go away in rural Wisconsin, and the counties themselves do not supply one. Residents taking medication for opioid use disorder are accepted here.

Arranging a Placement in This Kiel Sober House

No recovery residence street address is published in Wisconsin, so an inquiry goes to the operator and placement follows from there. With three beds, availability is the first question and it changes fast. After that: what the weekly fee is, whether the bedroom is private, what is expected during the day, who else is currently living in the house, and how the operator handles a relapse in a household this small.
