Foundation House is a men's sober living home in Yelm, Washington, in Thurston County, operated by Truly Motivated Transitional Living. It holds certification through the Washington Alliance for Quality Recovery Residences, the state's NARR affiliate, and sits on the nonprofit's Bald Hill Road campus east of Rainier.

This sober house in Yelm serves men working through the early and middle stages of recovery. Truly Motivated Transitional Living describes itself as a community built on health, hope and wholeness, and Foundation House carries that structure into daily life: residents attend on-site twelve-step and faith-based meetings and work through a weekly Genesis Process group alongside house staff. Yelm sits east of Rainier along the Nisqually Valley corridor, and the address keeps residents close to Thurston County's outpatient and court resources without putting them in the middle of Olympia.
What WAQRR Certification Establishes
Certification by the Washington Alliance for Quality Recovery Residences is voluntary in this state, so an operator that carries it has chosen to meet a published set of standards nobody required of it. WAQRR ties a certified house to a code of ethics, written disclosure of fees and rules before move-in, and an outside complaint process. For Foundation House, that record sits alongside the practical service TMTL builds around housing: life skills work on resumes, budgeting and conflict resolution, plus staff coaching and referrals into outside counseling.
Life Skills and Recovery Programming
Truly Motivated Transitional Living runs its houses as a program, not just an address. Residents at Foundation House move through the Genesis Process in a group setting, get assigned a staff coach, and are pointed toward counseling referrals when clinical support is needed beyond what the house provides. Applications go through the organization's online Recovery Outcomes portal, which keeps intake consistent across the nonprofit's houses.

Foundation House is one of three homes Truly Motivated Transitional Living runs on its Yelm campus, alongside Promise House for men and Restoration House for women. A resident who needs a different set of housemates or a change in the house's rhythm can raise it with an organization that already runs the alternative down the road.
About Men's House 1
Each home has a house manager who oversees the day to day happenings in the homes. All four of our homes are within walking distance of each other with access to our community meeting hall and dining room. Truly Motivated comfortably houses up to 23 residents. For over a decade now, we have witnessed extraordinary success. Mothers and fathers are reunited with children, and complete family restorations take place consistently. Lack of dignity and self respect turn into confidence and hope. Fear and devastation turn into courage and peace. Employment is secured, driving privileges are restored, legal matters are resolved and successful transitions to independent living happen regularly. While abstinence is a requirement for participation in our program and a foundational part of recovery, we consider achieving milestones to be a more insightful and appropriate gauge of success. In addition to sobriety, we track and monitor achievements that indicate progression toward independent living that are true signs of transformation and rehabilitation.
We have developed partnerships with Washington State Department of Corrections and are proud to be a safe next step for those exiting incarceration. Moreover, we have been endorsed by the Tri- County Area Supervisor of Department of Corrections as “the best transitional living facility in the state.†We also have great working relationships with a number of local businesses and churches, as well as other agencies in the industry such as in- and out-patient treatment providers, and funding resources. We believe that through these partnerships and networking we give our residents a greater opportunity to have long term success in society.
Truly Motivated's House One
is the hub of our recovery community. Our first and largest home, House One offers sanctuary for up to nine men. The on-site meeting hall is home to a dining hall offering a family style dinner two nights out of the week to residents as well as the local community. A great room provides space for parents to spend time with their visiting children or family members. Our office is onsite and the door is always open. The adjoining workshop with access to tools and supplies for facility maintenance and personal projects. The surrounding three acres of property offer a children's outdoor play toy, horseshoe pits, volley ball net and picnic tables.

Located on the property is our community meeting hall that serves as a lounge for the residents as well. Our meeting room hosts various 12 step meetings that open to the community, we have a very strong and alive recovery fellowship; allowing residents to create new, healthy relationships with others in recovery. The meeting hall has some great benefits:

This residence is well situated for making the first bit of time with the Truly Motivated family an easy adjustment. Residents at all four homes have access to amenities at House 1.
