Culturally Responsive Recovery Housing for Men

Salaam House was built around a specific gap: men in recovery who wanted a house where their language, culture and faith were built into the structure. Rahma Recovery Center opened it in November 2024 as the first housing of its kind in Washington for Muslim and East African men, though the house accepts residents of any background who fit its structure.

Certification by the Washington Alliance for Quality Recovery Residences commits Salaam House to a published code of ethics, written disclosure of fees and rules before move-in, and an outside complaint process. Level 2 describes a peer-supported, structured residence, and the standard is voluntary in Washington, which makes an operator's choice to carry it worth noticing.

Peer-Led Staff With Lived Experience

Rahma Recovery Center staffs its programs with people who have their own lived recovery experience, rooted in Muslim and East African community life. That staffing model shapes daily structure at Salaam House: recovery coaching and peer support delivered by people who understand both the recovery process and the cultural context residents are navigating.

Serving South King County

Federal Way sits in South King County, and Rahma Recovery Center draws residents from across the area, including Auburn, Kent, SeaTac, Tukwila and Des Moines. That regional service area gives Salaam House a pipeline of referrals from a part of King County with a significant East African and Muslim population and limited culturally specific recovery housing.
