About this Recovery House

Anchor Point is a recovery residence in Murray, Utah, in Salt Lake County, operated by Odyssey House of Utah. The house opened at 671 East 4800 South in August 2025, built with opioid settlement funding from the state of Utah and Salt Lake County, and it houses up to twenty residents transitioning out of treatment toward independent living.

A New Transitional Housing Property on 4800 South

Anchor Point opened on August 29, 2025, one of the newest additions to Odyssey House of Utah's housing footprint in the Salt Lake Valley. Odyssey House president and CEO Adam Cohen described the goal as complete independence for residents, and the house was built specifically to carry people through that last stretch after treatment ends and before they are fully on their own.

Funded by Utah's Opioid Settlement Dollars

Anchor Point exists because of opioid settlement funding distributed by the state of Utah and Salt Lake County, money paid by manufacturers and distributors held responsible for the opioid crisis and directed back into treatment and housing capacity. Twenty beds is a meaningful addition to the Salt Lake Valley's transitional housing supply, and it reflects a direct, traceable use of that settlement money.

Utah's Licensing Requirement for Recovery Residences

Recovery residences in Utah are licensed by the Utah Department of Health and Human Services Office of Licensing under Utah Code 26B-2-117. Utah has no certification levels or state NARR affiliate; a license is the state's only formal recognition, and it applies the same way to a newly opened house like Anchor Point as it does to a property that has operated for decades.

Reaching Anchor Point

Murray runs its own hospital and municipal services within Salt Lake County, and 4800 South connects residents to the rest of the Salt Lake Valley without a long commute. For the people opioid settlement funding is meant to reach, that combination of a real address, a manageable location and a large operator behind it is the practical difference between a discharge plan and an actual place to live.

One of Seven Odyssey House of Utah Recovery Homes

Anchor Point joins six other Odyssey House of Utah transitional housing addresses in Murray and Salt Lake City, including Anchor West and Anchor East nearby and two properties on University Avenue. The organization's size means a resident who outgrows a twenty-bed house has other addresses within the same system to move to.
