Paying for sober living in Texas

Expect sober living in Texas to run about $185 a week. That is a market figure, not this home's. Oxford House members divide the actual running costs equally, so ask the house directly. Median gross rent statewide in Texas is $1,403 a month, for context. Be Well Texas vouchers and Project HOMES are among the public routes that pay for recovery-housing beds here. Texas Health and Human Services Commission is where that funding sits.

How Oxford House membership works

Oxford Houses are governed by their own residents, financially self-supporting and substance-free as a condition of membership. New members are approved by a house vote, so the vacancy count reserves nothing.

How recovery housing is regulated in Texas

No state licence is required to run a recovery residence in Texas. Certification is voluntary and administered by Texas Recovery Oriented Housing Network (TROHN), the NARR affiliate for the state. Oxford Houses run on a charter from Oxford House, Inc., not state certification, so expect this address to be missing from the state list. See the state certified-residence list for homes that carry it. Residents are protected by the federal Fair Housing Act and by Texas Fair Housing Law (Texas Property Code Section 301.021).
