About this Recovery House

Family Residential Recovery is a women's recovery residence in Nashville, Tennessee, on Clarksville Pike in Davidson County, operated by Renewal House for pregnant women and mothers parenting children through substance use treatment.

Residential Recovery for Mothers in Nashville

This program houses women together with their children on Renewal House's Nashville campus, which is the detail that sets it apart from most sober housing. A mother keeps custody of her children while entering treatment, and the household is built around both recoveries happening at once: hers from substance use, and her family's from the disruption addiction causes. Renewal House describes itself as the only comprehensive substance use treatment program in Middle Tennessee built specifically for pregnant women and parenting mothers.

A Family-Centered Treatment Model

Individual housing on campus lets a mother keep her children close while working through a structured treatment program, a real alternative to placing them with relatives or the state during her stay. Renewal House pairs this residential program with a Child Development Center on site, so a child's care and a mother's treatment schedule can run on the same campus instead of two ends of the city.

Davidson County's Metro Nashville Setting

Nashville and Davidson County operate as a single consolidated metro government, and Clarksville Pike runs through the city's north side toward the Cumberland River corridor. That location keeps residents within reach of the courts, family services and outpatient providers concentrated in the county seat, which matters for a mother managing a treatment plan alongside custody or family court obligations.

Renewal House's Broader Work in Nashville

Family Residential Recovery is one piece of Renewal House's work on this campus, which also includes an Intensive Outpatient Program and separate Recovery Housing for women who have completed residential treatment and need permanent, affordable housing. Since 1996, the organization has served more than 9,700 women and children through these combined programs.

Our Impact Renewal House served more than 400 women and children this past year. On average, we provide 60 women with intensive addiction treatment each year. And on any given day, there are 60 women on the waiting list needing our help. The current opioid crisis has sharply increased the demand for services. Sadly, Tennessee has one of the highest rates of babies born with withdrawal symptoms known as neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS). Renewal House is the only residential addiction treatment program for pregnant women and mothers and their children in Middle Tennessee.
