The John Clem Recovery House Men's Recovery House

About this Recovery House

The John Clem Recovery House is a men's sober living home in Athens, Ohio, certified by Ohio Recovery Housing and serving Athens County. It is certified at the Supervised level and houses ten residents, in a wheelchair-accessible building.

A Supervised Men's Recovery Residence in Athens County

Ten beds and a wheelchair-accessible building put this house among the more substantial certified options in the county. The Supervised level brings closer staff presence than a peer-run house, while clinical care for residents stays with outside providers.

What Supervised Certification Requires of a Sober House

Ohio Recovery Housing's certification, unified with the state registry since the start of 2026, obligates a published code of ethics, disclosed fees and house rules before move-in, a written relapse and discharge policy, and a complaint process outside the house. At the Supervised level, staff presence is more constant than at a Peer-Run house, without turning the residence into a clinical program.

Athens and Athens County Recovery Housing

Athens is the seat of Athens County and home to Ohio University, which brings a base of medical, legal and transit services unusual for a city its size in southeastern Ohio. A resident here can reach the county courts, hospital and a range of outpatient providers inside the city.
