About this Recovery House
The Men's Rehabilitation & Reintegration Residence is a men's recovery residence in Troy, New York, in Rensselaer County, on Second Avenue. The Addictions Care Center of Albany operates it as a two-level residential program, certified by the New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports, and it is the provider's only site east of the Hudson.
Two Levels of Men's Recovery Housing at One Address
Rehabilitation covers substance use education, the adoption of recovery skills, medication management and the start of employment or educational planning. Reintegration is the stage where a resident actually attends outpatient programming while working or studying and building a sober social life. Combining them means the step that most often breaks a recovery, the move from being in treatment full time to being in the world full time, happens without changing address, counselor or housemates.
A Troy Sober House on the Lansingburgh Grid
Second Avenue runs north through Lansingburgh, the older residential district at the top of Troy along the east bank of the Hudson. It is a walkable street grid with bus service down into the city center. Troy is the seat of Rensselaer County, which puts the county courthouse, the county offices and the department of social services inside the city, along with Samaritan Hospital and the area's outpatient providers.
Rensselaer County Recovery Housing in a Regional Labor Market
Troy sits directly across the river from Albany and Watervliet, tied into the Capital Region by CDTA routes that run through the day. That geography matters at the reintegration stage, when a resident is looking for work. The labor market a man here is entering is regional, covering Albany, Rensselaer and Saratoga counties, and Troy is inside it without the cost of living in the capital. Hudson Valley Community College and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute both sit in the city.
What Certification Means for This Recovery Home
The program is certified by the New York State agency that oversees addiction services, which inspects residential treatment, regulates staffing and reviews admission and discharge practice. Recovery residences in New York carry no such requirement, and the market includes plenty of housing that operates entirely outside the system. A certified program is a verifiable one, and that is most of what an outside credential is worth.
The Capital Region Network Behind This Sober Living Program
The Addictions Care Center of Albany has been a private nonprofit since 1967 and runs eight residential sites across Albany, Rensselaer and Warren counties alongside an Albany outpatient clinic, prevention and family support services and professional training for addiction counselors. Residential staffing runs twenty-four hours a day, 365 days a year, with counseling, education, employment training, life-skills training and case management provided on site.
