Sober living homes are group residences for people who are recovering from addiction. In most instances, people who live in sober homes have to follow certain house rules and contribute to the home by doing chores. Most importantly, residents must stay sober throughout their stay in the home. The Brownsville Community Residential Program is a twenty-one bed co-ed community residence that provides a structured supportive environment for persons between the ages of 18 and 65 who have been diagnosed with a Chemical Dependency problem. During their stay, residents of the facility receive at least ten hours of planned supportive group sessions per week designed to assist them in their recovery from chemical dependency. There are also on-site Alcoholics Narcotics Anonymous meetings and individual counseling.
