About this Recovery House
The H.O.U.S.E. – Joplin is a coed recovery residence in Webb City, Missouri, serving the Joplin area from Jasper County. It is operated by The H.O.U.S.E., Inc., which has run recovery housing in the southwest corner of the state since 1996.
A Sober House Named for the City It Serves
The Joplin house carries the name of the metro it feeds, and most of its residents come out of treatment, jail or a hospital bed in that city. Webb City is close enough that a job, a probation appointment and a home group can all stay where they already are. Nothing about the address needs to change when a resident moves on to independent housing in Joplin itself, which is a large part of why people in this area look at Webb City recovery homes first.
Coed Recovery Housing and What It Means Day to Day
Men and women live in this house together under one set of expectations. That arrangement asks more of everybody: shared common space, shared chore lists, and house meetings where both are present. It also means a resident is not sorted out of a house because of a gender quota when a bed is free. The people who do best in coed sober living arrive with some recovery time behind them and a clear idea of what they are protecting.
Peer Leadership at This Recovery Home
The organization was built by people who had been through addiction themselves and did not find what they needed in existing programs. Three decades on, the houses still run on that principle. Nobody on site is delivering clinical care. The value of the address is the other residents, the routine, and the fact that somebody notices when a person stops going to work.
Sober Living in Jasper County, Missouri
Jasper County anchors southwest Missouri, with Carthage as the county seat and Joplin as the commercial center. The county's recovery housing stock is concentrated in this triangle, and the transit, hospitals and outpatient providers follow the same lines. Webb City sits in the middle of it. For someone leaving treatment in a small town in Newton, Barton or McDonald County, this is usually the nearest address with work, appointments and meetings inside one short drive.
Applying to This Webb City Sober Living Home
Placement runs through The H.O.U.S.E., Inc., which decides which of its houses has room and which fits the applicant. Ask what is required in the first thirty days, how the fee is paid and refunded, what the curfew is, and how the house handles a resident who relapses. Missouri accreditation through the Missouri Coalition of Recovery Support Providers is voluntary, and a guide to certifying a sober living home with MCRSP explains what that standard covers for operators who take it on.
