House Israel Men's Recovery House

About this Recovery House

House Israel is a men's sober living home in Kansas City, Missouri, in Jackson County, run by Counselors Obediently Preventing Substance Abuse, or COPSA. It is the second of the two men's houses the organization operates in the city, built around the same life skills and counseling model as its companion house.

A Men's Recovery Residence in Kansas City

House Israel houses men working through recovery from substance use disorder in a single-gender setting. COPSA staffs the program with counseling and life skills training that goes beyond peer structure alone, and residents are expected to engage with that curriculum as a condition of staying in the house.

COPSA's Model: Housing Plus Counseling

COPSA's stated mission centers on empowering people with substance use disorder and their families through life skills training, and House Israel is where that mission runs day to day for one group of men. The organization's counselors work directly with residents, not leaving structure entirely to house rules.

Recovery Housing in Jackson County

As Jackson County's largest city, Kansas City gives residents at House Israel access to outpatient treatment, the county court system and a labor market broad enough to support steady work early in recovery. Because COPSA runs its program organization-wide, not address by address, applying to House Israel means applying to COPSA itself.

Part of a Two-House Program

House Israel and House Exodus together make up COPSA's men's housing in Kansas City. Both operate under the same counseling staff and life skills curriculum, so a man who needs to change houses within the program does so without losing the continuity of his counseling relationship.
