About this Sober House

Summer House is a sober living home for men on Summer Street in Lynn, Massachusetts, in Essex County. AmericaSober describes it as the house where the operator was born, and it remains the largest of the family-run operator's four Massachusetts properties.

AmericaSober's Largest Men's Sober House

Summer House is AmericaSober's largest property, offering single and double occupancy rooms and easy access to public transportation and on-site laundry. Random drug testing and weekly house meetings run alongside that scale, giving the operator's biggest household the same basic structure as its smaller houses.

Where AmericaSober Was Born

AmericaSober's own account of its history points to Summer House, in Lynn, as the place the organization began before it grew into a four-house network spanning Greater Boston and Cape Cod. That origin gives the Lynn property a different role in the operator's story than its newer additions.

Public Transportation and Daily Life in Lynn

Summer House's access to public transportation and on-site laundry matters in a city like Lynn, a working-class Essex County community along the North Shore where many residents commute into Boston for work. Those two conveniences remove two of the more common obstacles to holding down a job early in recovery.

Weekly Meetings and Random Drug Testing

Summer House follows the same core model AmericaSober runs at its other houses: random drug testing and a weekly house meeting, without the additional fitness amenities the operator built into its newer Cape Cod property. The size of the house is what sets it apart, not a different set of rules.

AmericaSober's Massachusetts Houses

Summer House is one of four sober living homes AmericaSober operates in the state. Maverick House, in East Boston, and Soberfit, in North Falmouth, both serve men, and Campbell House, in Revere, serves women.

Sober living homes are group residences for people who are recovering from addiction. In most instances, people who live in sober homes have to follow certain house rules and contribute to the home by doing chores. Most importantly, residents must stay sober throughout their stay in the home. OneSober OneSober is dedicated to assisting men and women in their journey of recovery. If you are serious about your sobriety and want a safe and friendly place to continue your recovery, you will find it here. We are all related through a common disease and a deep desire to establish a new life based on self respect, integrity and dedication to substance free living while helping others. We are a place for you to develop coping skills that will help you master the social and professional demands of society. We are a place for you to find peace and safety to function in a drug and alcohol free environment and you need to care for the house and yourself accordingly. You are responsible for your own actions. Accountability is a common value shared by the entire community. Willingness and cooperation are the basic requirements shared by all members. The goal of OneSober is to be a zero tolerance community. That means if you make a decision to use alcohol or illegal drugs/substances, without a verifiable clinician's prescription, you will be subject to termination of your membership and immediate expulsion for the safety of yourself and the other members of the community. House members support each other like a family, that is, a close group of individuals living and working toward a common goal: continued sobriety. You are responsible for maintaining an understanding of the defined rules, requirements, and practices necessary to ensure a clean and sober environment. We expect members to attend school, work or do a combination of these things, which consists of a full day's activities. Recovery is the #1 priority above all else. We recommend that you attend A.A., N.A. or 12 STEP, religious meetings or clinical group therapy at least twice a week, have a sponsor and be working on your recovery because sobriety is our primary purpose.
