Cost of recovery housing in Louisiana
Sober living in Louisiana typically runs around $155 a week. Oxford House residents split the house's actual running costs equally rather than paying a set rent, so this home's share may be different — the house is the only source for its own figure. For comparison, median gross rent across Louisiana is $1,064 a month. Where paying the share is not possible, state-funded help such as Permanent Supportive Housing and SSVF and HUD-VASH is the usual route. Louisiana Department of Health, Office of Behavioral Health is the state agency that oversees this funding.
How an Oxford House is run
Oxford Houses are governed by their own residents, covered by the members' equal shares and kept free of alcohol and illicit drugs. New members are voted in by the existing membership, so calling the house is the only way to learn what is actually free.
Is sober living regulated in Louisiana?
Recovery residences are not state-licensed in Louisiana. Oxford Houses run on a charter from Oxford House, Inc., not state certification, so expect this address to be missing from the state list. Fair housing protection comes from federal law and from Louisiana Fair Housing Law (Louisiana Revised Statutes Section 51:2606).
