What sober living costs in Louisiana, and how residents pay for it
The going rate for sober living in Louisiana is around $155 a week. An Oxford House does not set a rent — members split what the house actually costs to run, so the figure here is a guide to the market, not to this home. Median gross rent in Louisiana, for comparison, is $1,064 a month. State funding such as Permanent Supportive Housing and SSVF and HUD-VASH exists for residents who cannot cover it themselves. That money is administered by Louisiana Department of Health, Office of Behavioral Health.
How Oxford House membership works
Oxford Houses are resident-governed homes, financially self-supporting and alcohol- and drug-free by charter. New members are interviewed and admitted by the members themselves, so an opening is not the same thing as an acceptance.
How recovery housing is regulated in Louisiana
No state licence is required to run a recovery residence in Louisiana. Oxford Houses run on a charter from Oxford House, Inc., not state certification, so expect this address to be missing from the state list. Both the federal Fair Housing Act and Louisiana Fair Housing Law (Louisiana Revised Statutes Section 51:2606) protect residents here.
