About this Recovery House
Dove Recovery House is a women's recovery home in Indianapolis, Indiana, in Marion County, operated by Dove Recovery House for Women, Inc., which has run women's recovery housing in the city since 2000. The organization is the largest provider of its kind serving Marion and Dubois counties, and this Indianapolis address is where it began.
A Women's Recovery Home in Indianapolis
This recovery home in Indianapolis serves women only, and the organization built its programming around the population it actually sees: women who arrive with histories of homelessness, and physical, emotional or sexual abuse alongside substance use disorder. The house holds forty women at a time, the largest single residence Dove Recovery House for Women operates anywhere in the state. Its exact street is not published, a common practice among women's recovery housing where safety is part of the design, and inquiries and referrals go directly through the operator.
Programming Offered Free of Charge
Dove Recovery House for Women charges nothing to the women it serves. The organization estimates the true weekly cost of serving one resident near $287, a figure covered entirely through grants, corporate support and individual donors. That model shapes who ends up in the house: women with nowhere else to turn financially, not only women who happen to prefer a free program.
Recovery Programming and Clinical Services on Site
Residents get peer recovery coaching, case management and a full calendar of NA, AA and HA meetings, plus life skills coaching and relapse prevention groups run in house. Clinical services run alongside that structure: intensive outpatient treatment, individual therapy, and trauma-specific approaches including Seeking Safety. Family reunification services address something most sober living homes leave to residents to manage alone, which matters given how many women arrive separated from children.
Operated by a Certified Indiana Recovery Housing Provider
Dove Recovery House for Women operates under certification through the Indiana Affiliation of Recovery Residences, the state's NARR affiliate. Certification commits an operator to a published code of ethics, written disclosure of fees and rules, and a complaint process independent of the house itself. For a program that serves some of the state's most vulnerable women at no cost, that outside accountability matters as much as the programming itself.
Recovery Housing in Marion County
Indianapolis is the seat of Marion County and the largest city in the state, and that scale is part of why Dove Recovery House for Women built its first and largest home here. Outpatient providers, courts, employers and the organization's own clinical staff all sit inside one metro area, and a resident moving through the program's phases can reach nearly all of them without leaving the county.
Dove Recovery House for Women's Homes Across Indiana
The Indianapolis home is one of two Dove Recovery House for Women residences currently serving Indiana, alongside a smaller home in Jasper, in Dubois County. Both operate under the same organization, the same free-of-charge model and the same certification. Women who need trauma-informed, women-only recovery housing in central Indiana or in the southwest part of the state are choosing between two locations run by the same team.
Each month, more than 100 women contact Dove House, hoping that the day they make that phone call is the first step towards sobriety and the road to recovery. As women come to the Dove House ready to shed their addictions, their needs, hopes, and dreams vary to overcome trauma and be safe, to be known and loved, to reunite with family, to go back to school or find employment, to live a healthier life.
From the first day at Dove House, our women are affirmed that all of these hopes are possible because they have taken the first step to rewriting their narrative.
Dove House is a transitional housing facility that is staffed around the clock. Every morning, residents meet as a group with a Dove House case manager to participate in morning reflection and start the day on a positive note.
