About this Recovery House

Hummingbird House Midland is a women's sober house in Nampa, Idaho, in Canyon County. It is the smallest of six women's recovery homes run by a Boise nonprofit, and the operator identifies it by the Midland corridor in Nampa.

A Small Women's Sober House in Nampa

Nampa is the largest city in Canyon County and the second largest in the Treasure Valley, and it is where most of the county's population and entry-level work sit. A women's house here serves someone whose job, family or children are on the western side of the valley and who would otherwise commute to Boise for a bed. Northwest Nazarene University, Saint Alphonsus Medical Center Nampa and the food processing and warehousing employers along the Interstate 84 corridor are all in the city, and ValleyRide buses connect Nampa to Caldwell and Boise.

Three Bedrooms and Seven Residents in This Recovery Home

The house has three bedrooms and a capacity of seven. That is a genuinely small household, and it produces a different experience from the operator's seven bedroom homes. Seven women in one house means one kitchen schedule, one bathroom queue that people learn quickly, and a household where nobody is anonymous. For a woman who does badly in a crowd, or who is early enough in recovery that noise is a problem, a small house is the better placement. A Magellan-funded resident pays $325 a month as an amenity fee.

Nampa Recovery Housing and Canyon County

Caldwell is the seat of Canyon County, and the county courthouse and West Valley Medical Center are there, a few miles west along the interstate. Canyon County has far less recovery housing than Ada County, and women's houses in particular are scarce, so a small structured house in Nampa fills a real gap. The county's economy runs on agriculture, food processing, warehousing and construction, which is work that hires without a long resume and pays weekly.

Idaho Sober Living Certification Does Not Exist

There is no certifying body for recovery residences in Idaho, no state registry, and no affiliate of the National Alliance for Recovery Residences. The state licenses assisted living and residential habilitation and leaves sober housing entirely alone. A resident therefore has no credential to look up and no complaint process above the operator. What she can examine is a nonprofit's public filings and a written housing agreement, and she should read both.

Applying to This Nampa Sober Living Home

The street address is not published, and placement runs through the nonprofit that operates all six houses. An applicant should ask specifically for this house if a small household is what she needs, since the operator places across three cities. Ask what her monthly cost would be, whether a house manager lives on site, how the three bedrooms are shared among seven residents, what ends a stay, and whether medication for opioid use disorder is accepted.

Hummingbird's Women's Recovery Homes Across the Valley

Six houses carry the name: three in Boise, one in Meridian, and two in Nampa, ranging from three bedrooms to seven. A woman who starts in a small house and later wants more people around, or the reverse, can move inside the same organization on the same terms. Idaho's Department of Health and Welfare keeps the state's licensed provider listings current.
