Gateway I keeps its residents to a single gender, which lets house meetings, shared bathrooms and the general rhythm of the house be built around one population's needs instead of compromised between two. Structure Built Around Work and Meetings

Women living at Gateway I are expected to hold a job, attend twelve-step meetings, and keep any intensive outpatient program appointments their treatment plan calls for. Transitions Structured Living runs a zero tolerance policy on substance use across its houses, and an on-site manager keeps that policy and the rest of the house rules something residents deal with daily.

Aftercare and Ongoing Treatment

Several residents arrive at Gateway I still working through an intensive outpatient program, and the operator treats that ongoing care as compatible with sober living instead of a reason to delay a move-in. Keeping a woman's housing stable while her outpatient treatment continues is a large part of what the structure is designed to do.

Voluntary Certification Under Florida Law

Florida certification is optional and runs through the Florida Association of Recovery Residences, the only credentialing body the state recognizes for this kind of housing. Confirming Gateway I's current standing is a question for Transitions Structured Living directly.

Gateway I shares an operator with four other sober living homes in Port St. Lucie, split between men's and women's houses. That network gives a resident and her case manager a second option inside the same organization if her needs change after move-in.
