Sober living costs and rent help in Florida

Sober living across Florida averages roughly $205 a week. Because Oxford House members share the home's real expenses instead of paying rent, this house's share may sit above or below that; only the residents can say. Median gross rent statewide in Florida is $1,669 a month, for context. Florida Department of Children and Families is the state agency that oversees this funding.

How the Oxford House model works, and how to apply

Oxford Houses are self-governing households, paid for by the members themselves and required to stay substance-free. New members are taken on by the current residents, so calling the house is the only way to learn what is actually free.

Is sober living regulated in Florida?

Florida does not treat recovery residences as licensed facilities. Voluntary standards are set by Florida Association of Recovery Residences (FARR), the state's NARR affiliate. Because Oxford Houses are chartered nationally by Oxford House, Inc. rather than certified locally, they seldom show on a state registry. See the state certified-residence list for homes that carry it. Florida Fair Housing Law (Florida Statutes Section 760.23) applies alongside the federal Fair Housing Act.
