Bedrooms, bathrooms, common space and the house meeting are all one gender, and one set of expectations covers the household. Colorado routes recovery residence certification through a body approved by the state Behavioral Health Administration. Ohio Recovery Housing - Colorado holds that approval and maintains the state directory, work it took over when the Colorado Association of Recovery Residences closed in 2025. Certification binds a residence to a published code of ethics, to written disclosure of fees and house rules before anyone signs, to a written policy covering relapse and discharge, and to a complaint process that runs outside the house. House Bill 19-1009 made certification the gate for state referrals and state funding, so a certified address is the one a treatment provider or a court can point someone toward.

East Iliff Avenue carries two certified Hazelbrook Sober Living Homes residences, this one and its neighbor, and the operator certifies each separately. A short distance north, the East Exposition Avenue address holds three more: Waco, Andes and Elkhart. Between them the four Aurora addresses cover men and women, so a placement conversation is not limited to a single household.
That clustering is deliberate. Moving between houses inside the same operator leaves a resident's job, bus route, outpatient provider and probation officer unchanged.

That answer matters most to people coming out of detox or a hospital stay on buprenorphine or methadone, who otherwise face a choice between the prescription and the bed. Meetings
Attending recovery meetings and connecting with like-minded individuals that will be there to support you is crucial to recovery, however, we understand that this can be a bit intimidating at first especially if you have never gone before. So we host a variety of meetings at our houses that are in a warm and close-knit environment that are there for your convenience such as AA, NA, Bible Studies, Life Skills, etc.

​Leadership Program
Our goal is to empower you not only to help yourself but to help others. We encourage residents to mentor and guide others in the program after they have established a good foundation for themselves. Our program is run by people in recovery and many of which have been through the program themselves. If you are interested in leadership or employment opportunities let us know!
​We currently operate five Men's Houses and two Women's Houses. All of our homes are located in nice, quiet, and serene suburban neighborhoods and are kept very clean at all times and are super nice both inside and out! All homes are located within walking distance of bus stops, grocery stores, AA/NA meetings, and more!
