About this Recovery House

Banks House is a women's sober living home in Aurora, Colorado, in Arapahoe County, listed as a certified recovery residence in the state directory and operated by Aurora Sober Living.

How Placement Into This Recovery Home Works

Applications go to the operator, not the house. That is the standard arrangement in a multi-house network and it works in an applicant's favor: one conversation puts a woman in front of every open women's bed the operator has, at whatever level of structure fits. Treatment providers and case managers place clients the same way, working from the state's certified list and then calling the operator about current openings. Because Colorado publishes no addresses for certified residences, that call is also how a prospective resident finds out where the house actually is.

A Women's Sober House in Aurora

This is women-only housing. The operator's women's and men's residences sit at separate addresses, and the houses are furnished and maintained by the operator while residents run the household between them. Recovery coaching is offered as a separate service in the city.

Certification and Colorado Recovery Housing Law

Certification is held through ORH-CO, the certifying body approved by the Colorado Behavioral Health Administration and the state's affiliate of the National Alliance for Recovery Residences. Certification requires fees and rules disclosed in writing before move-in, a written relapse and discharge policy, a code of ethics, and an external complaint process. Colorado House Bill 19-1009 makes it the condition for accepting state referrals and funding.

Medication and Subsidy in This Sober Living Home

Medication-assisted treatment is supported across these residences and rent subsidy is listed as available. Programming is not faith-based, and family housing is not offered.

Arapahoe County Recovery Housing

Aurora is Colorado's third-largest city and the eastern anchor of the Denver metropolitan area, with Littleton as the Arapahoe County seat to the southwest. The Anschutz Medical Campus, RTD light rail on the I-225 corridor and the bus network along Colfax Avenue give a resident without a car a workable radius, and most of the county's certified recovery homes sit inside it.
