About this Recovery House

Asher House is a women's recovery residence in Aurora, Colorado, in Arapahoe County, and it is the phase two house in the Aurora Sober Living network. Phase two is where a woman moves once she has held a routine long enough for the structure to loosen.

Phase Two Women's Recovery Housing

A step-down house does something a first-stage house cannot. It gives a resident more responsibility while she still has the safety net of a sober household, which is the gap most people fall through when they leave recovery housing straight into a lease. Staying inside the same operator's network also means the people making the decision already know how she has done, month by month, instead of reading a reference.

A Women's Sober House in Aurora

This is women-only housing. The operator keeps its men's and women's residences at separate addresses, so house meetings, shared bathrooms and common space are single-gender throughout. Furnishing and upkeep are the operator's responsibility, and residents run the household between them.

Certification and Colorado Recovery Housing Law

The residence is certified in Colorado's statewide directory through ORH-CO, the certifying body approved by the state Behavioral Health Administration and Colorado's National Alliance for Recovery Residences affiliate. Certification obliges written disclosure of fees and rules before move-in, a written relapse and discharge policy, adherence to a code of ethics, and an external complaint process. Colorado House Bill 19-1009 requires it before a residence can take state referrals or funding. The state publishes no street addresses for certified residences, so applications and tours are arranged through the operator.

Support and Affordability in This Sober Living Home

Medication-assisted treatment is supported across these residences and rent subsidy is available. Family housing is not part of the model, which is worth settling early for a woman with children. Programming is not faith-based.

Aurora, Arapahoe County and the Denver Metro

Aurora is Colorado's third-largest city and the eastern anchor of the Denver metropolitan area. It carries the Anschutz Medical Campus, RTD light rail along the I-225 corridor, and a bus network centered on Colfax Avenue. Littleton is the county seat. A woman at phase two is usually working and rebuilding independence, and this part of Arapahoe County is where a job, a class and an appointment can be held in the same week without a car.
