About this Recovery Home
Limestone Ridge is an extended care recovery residence in Warrior, Alabama, in Jefferson County. It occupies part of the Bradford Health Services campus at 1189 Allbritton Road, north of Birmingham, and houses men and women in gender-specific cottages after primary treatment is finished.
Extended Care Recovery Housing on Allbritton Road
Extended care is the stage people underestimate. Primary treatment interrupts a pattern; extended care is where a new one gets built over weeks, with the supervision dialed down a notch at a time. Residents here have already completed a primary program. They live on the same campus, keep working with the same clinical staff, and take on more responsibility for their own day as they go. For someone whose last three attempts ended in the first month home, the extra length is the point of the program.
Men's and Women's Cottages on One Recovery Housing Campus
The Allbritton Road campus houses men and women separately. Cottages are single-gender, so the household a resident actually lives in, sleeps in and holds meetings in has one population, even though the clinical program serves both. That distinction is easy to miss on a listing that reads simply as coed. Two single-gender houses on shared grounds is a different living arrangement from a mixed house, and it is the arrangement here.
How Alabama Regulates Treatment and Sober Living
The Alabama Department of Mental Health certifies substance use disorder treatment providers. Recovery residences that offer housing alone fall outside that system, and their certification is voluntary through the Alabama Alliance for Recovery Residences. No Alabama statute requires a sober house to hold it. The practical reading for a family: a clinical program carries state oversight of its treatment, a certified recovery residence carries a code of ethics and a complaint process for its housing, and the two credentials answer different questions.
Warrior and Birmingham Metro Recovery Homes
Warrior sits in the northern corner of Jefferson County, about twenty-five miles up Interstate 65 from Birmingham, the county seat. The setting is rural enough to be quiet and close enough to the metro that discharge planning has somewhere to point. Jefferson County holds the densest concentration of recovery housing in Alabama, along with the outpatient providers, drug court and employers that a resident leaving extended care needs within reach. Someone stepping down from this campus into a certified sober living home in Birmingham stays inside one county's network of services.
Limestone Ridge and the Other Bradford Recovery Residences
Warrior Lodge, the primary residential program, shares the campus. Bradford also runs a residential location in Madison, in the Tennessee Valley, and outpatient offices in Birmingham, Montgomery, Florence and Mobile. Moving from primary care into extended care here is a transfer between two programs of one organization, which spares a resident the work of starting over with a new intake, a new assessment and a new set of clinicians.
