A Twelve-Month Women's Recovery Home in Killen
A year is a long program, and the length is the first thing a prospective resident should weigh. It suits a woman who has cycled through thirty-day treatment more than once and needs the ground to stay still long enough to change something. It does not suit someone looking for a bed for a season. The center states its work in three words, repair, restore and redeem, and the twelve months are how it intends to get there. The street address is not published, and admission runs through the center's intake process.
Four Phases of a Christ-Centered Sober Living Program
The program divides the year into four phases, each meant to hand a resident more responsibility than the last, so that the woman leaving in month twelve has the confidence and the practical tools to live free of addiction. Phased programs work because they make progress visible. A resident can see where she is, what comes next, and what she has to do to get there, and the house has a defensible answer when someone asks why one resident has privileges another does not.
Level III Certification for This Recovery Residence
The Alabama Alliance for Recovery Residences certifies Alabama residences one address at a time and publishes a level with each listing. Level III is the supervised tier: staffed, programmed, with administrative oversight above the household, which is what a four-phase twelve-month curriculum requires. Alabama does not license recovery residences, so this certification is the only outside record of the house that exists. It binds the operator to disclose fees and rules in writing, to keep a written relapse and discharge policy, to follow a code of ethics, and to accept complaints reviewed outside the house.
Classes, Groups and Life Skills at This Sober House
The weekly schedule is built from groups and classes. Residents attend Life Recovery and Celebrate Recovery groups alongside Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous meetings, and the center adds anger management, GED classes, financial planning and employment development, with referrals out to mental health counseling. The GED and financial planning pieces do the quiet work. A woman leaving a twelve-month program with a diploma, a bank account she understands and a recent work history is in a materially different position from one leaving with sobriety alone.
Lauderdale County Recovery Housing and the Shoals
Killen is a small town in Lauderdale County, east of Florence on the north bank of the Tennessee River. Florence is the county seat and the largest of the Shoals cities, with the courthouse, the hospital and the University of North Alabama. Muscle Shoals, Sheffield and Tuscumbia sit across the river in Colbert County. The Shoals functions as one labor market and one service area, so a resident in Killen is inside reach of all of it. Certified women's recovery housing in northwest Alabama is scarce, and this is one of the few Level III addresses in the region.
