Florida Association of Recovery Residences
Certification for sober residences in Florida is issued by the Florida Association of Recovery Residences. The Florida Association of Recovery Residences was formed in 2011, with the purpose of assessing and advising the recovery support services provided by community-based sober housing in Florida. FARR was the first organization to implement standards for sober housing in Florida.
Concurrently, the National Alliance for Recovery Residences (NARR) established standards for sober houses across the country. NARR began to affiliate with state-level organizations to promote standards for sober houses and other recovery programs and centers. FARR is affiliated with NARR and helps promote these standards at sober houses across Florida.
From the Florida Association of Recovery Residences:
FARR believes in high quality of care for chemically dependent individuals and other persons needing recovery residence services. We believe that this can best be achieved through the creation and maintenance of standards designed for that purpose. We further believe that all people have the right to recover in an atmosphere which meets their special needs as well as their basic needs for safety, dignity and respect.
Our intent is to create, monitor, evaluate and improve standards and measures of quality for recovery residences in Florida; to maintain a forum for exchanging ideas, solving problems and providing guidance; and to act as an advocate for our members as well as for those we serve.
