The Progress House is a men’s sober house in Amesbury, MA.
Sober living houses also called sober homes and sober living environments, are facilities that provide safe housing and supportive, structured living conditions for people exiting drug rehabilitation programs. Sober houses serve as a transitional environment between such programs and mainstream society.
Sober living homes are group residences for people who are recovering from addiction. In most instances, people who live in sober homes have to follow certain house rules and contribute to the home by doing chores. Most importantly, residents must stay sober throughout their stay in the home.
Progress House is a longer-term residential housing program, where men work on their recovery in a highly supportive, safe, and sober environment for a period of up to two years. Residents must be free of substance use for a minimum of 30 days, and contract to abstain from all substance use and other addictive behaviors, attend appropriate AA/NA meetings, participate in house meetings, consent to the house rules and fully participate in all additional aspects of recovery. To ensure a successful transition to independent living, clients are required to work and pay a portion of their treatment fee. Case management and the peer-mentorship are the cornerstones of the program, building upon positive relationships amongst residents to assist each other with relapse prevention skills, effectively manage daily life stressors, coordination with community supports and empower them on their own recovery journey.
