For 37 years Lucille Raines has been a home for men and women who are looking to turn their lives around after substance abuse. It is a caring and loving atmosphere that provides the support needed to become healthy again.
Rent received from those living at Lucille Raines Residence provides approximately half the cost of the program. United Methodist Women in Indiana provide monthly support. Additional funds are received through Conference Advance Specials. United Methodists can give to Lucille Raines Residence through their congregation or directly to the Residence, which is a 501 (c) 3 corporation; all contributions are tax deductible.
The basis of the self-help program is a daily inventory of defects in character and the sharing of these defects with another person. It is suggested that a part of each day be set aside for meditation and prayer — the end result being that one learns to turn his/her life over to God day-by-day. The support that grows out of the sharing forms the community that is the backbone of the program and becomes the strength which enables recovery to occur.
