Sober House Description:

About Friendship House, Inc Sober Living

The mission of theĀ Friendship House Sober living House is to provide a therapeutic living environment for adult men recovering from substance abuse to aid in the transition to the next phase of their recovery. Research indicates that in order for long-term gains to be sustained, individuals often need a minimum of 90-120 days with intense supports to prevent them from falling back into old patterns of behavior.

To that end, the Friendship Sober House has dedicated nearly 52 years to providing housing and programming specifically designed to teach our men how to effectively live a productive life free from the negative influences of drugs and alcohol. The Friendship House is licensed as a Substance Abuse Treatment Provider by the State of Nebraska through Department of Health and Human Services Division of Behavioral Health. The Halfway House program received its third 3-year CARF accreditation in 2017, certifying our commitment to providing quality services.
Residents of the Friendship Sober Living House commit to 6-12 months in our structured and supportive environment as they learn to use the tools they gained through treatment and navigate the difficulties of early recovery, including finding and maintaining employment, rebuilding family relationships, addressing past trauma, resolving legal issues, and building healthy peer relationships. It is only after a solid foundation of support has been established that many people are able to maintain the disciplined lifestyle that recovery requires.

Additional Information:

In order to be eligible for services, an individual must have successfully completed residential treatment within the past 12 months and have a current substance use evaluation and diagnosis. The Halfway House program consists of a minimum 6-month commitment, with an option to extend treatment to a full year. Services provided include room and board, weekly individual and group counseling, 24-hour on-site support and on-call counseling, accountability to community-based supports (such as AA/NA/Celebrate Recovery), and we also offer the option of transitioning to our sober-living home upon successful completion of our Halfway House program. At the Friendship House, we understand that recovery is not a one-time decision, but rather a daily commitment to making good decisions, promoting healthy relationships, and ultimately developing lifelong habits that center around sobriety.
